I’m doing a terrible job blogging about my day. I guess I’ll do my weekend now and then write about past days later on. Again, you don’t have to read this; it’s for me.

This was probably one of the coldest days we’ve had so far. It was literally painful to be outside. I had to pick up my sister from school because she was complaining about her ear. I took her to the doctor and found out she had an ear infection. Got her medicine, made her soup, and all that other stuff you do for people when they’re sick. When my mom got home, I hopped a train down to House of Blues for Hit the Lights.
Met up with Azure, Derek, and Shaena, and saw Jake and Deb, which was nice. Hit the Lights put on a great show, as per usual, but I wish they had headlined. They had Invicta two weeks early and I grabbed the CD because I was too broke to get the vinyl :( Talked to the guys (minus Dave) for a bit, then headed out.

It ended earlier than I thought, so I took the train back to my car and then headed over to Quenchers to see Archie Powell & the Exports (the blue line ran a few blocks away, but again, it was a painful 5 degrees outside). Made it in time to see this band from Milwaukee, Trapper Schoepp & the Shades, open. They’re really good. During AP&E’s set, everyone was dancing and singing along. Their show reminded me of why they’re one of my favorite locals and that I’ll forever be “mom proud” of them.

Nothing can really get me to wake up earlier than 1PM nowadays (I haven’t watched Maury in weeks. I know, right?), but White Wives was coming into the JBTV studios, so I was up and about. I asked Christian a few weeks ago if he could book them, but he said it was too soon. A few days later, he sent out an email saying they were confirmed, so I was really excited. I got ready to leave around 10:30 and was about to head out the door when I remembered that I needed something from upstairs. When I was up there, I heard coughing from my sister’s room. She was asleep. Glad my mom neglected to tell me she was staying home -_- I got her ready and dropped her off at my mom’s work.
By the time I got down to the studio, it started snowing a bit. After a few hours, it really started coming down, at least two or three inches had fallen. About 20 or 25 people showed up for the taping, which was a lot more than I expected. They put on a killer show; I had a bunch of our crew coming up to me saying, “Holy shit…” Yeah, that’s basically everyone’s reaction after seeing them. I can’t wait for the taping to air.

Left around 3:30. Since the blizzard was kind of sudden, the expressway didn’t get plowed. It took me an hour and a half to get home. I planned on going to see Model Stranger at Reggie’s and Ha Ha Tonka at Lincoln Hall, but the goddamn snow kept me from doing that. Chilled for a bit, then left around 7:30 to get down to Underground Lounge by 9. Punk rock is never on time, so of course the show started an hour late, but it was alright. Wide Angles were supposed to open the show, but apparently their singer is a snowplow driver (sucks), so they had to cancel. Mike from Dead End Days did a short acoustic set in their place, which was very good; I need to check out the full band stuff. Masked Intruder hit the stage after. Toby was raving about these guys (he told me I needed to go to the show and I told him he needed to get WW on the bill, so it was a win/win). They’re pretty great; they all wear ski masks and talk in dopey voices, and their sound was awesome. White Wives obviously killed it too. Slow Death from Minneapolis closed the show. Even though I was extremely tired, I’m glad I stayed for the whole thing.
I said my goodbyes, answered a text, and walked 300 feet to my car. About 10 minutes after I started driving, I looked around and realized I didn’t have my phone. I drove back and retraced my steps. Couldn’t find it anywhere. I ran into Toby and used his phone to call mine, but it had died by then. I was really bummed, but now it’s kind of just like whatever.

My family went up north for some chili cook off with their friends, so I had the house to myself, which involved me sitting around watching Bones for most of the day before I went to work. Nothing too exciting. Grabbed some Bacci’s pizza and wings after for dinner/lunch the next day. Good decisions.

Slept until my family came home at 11AM, stayed up for 10 minutes, then slept again until 5PM. Went to Beat Kitchen for the Rememberwhens, Devon Kay & the Solutions, The Fur Coats, and Costanza. Great show. It’s been almost a year since I’ve seen DK&S and almost three years since I’ve seen the Rememberwhens (Sergio literally fell over when he saw me). Yikes. Missed all those dudes. Glad I went.
So…yeah. The end.
